Things For Couples To Do In Derbyshire

Things For Couples To Do In Derbyshire

Are you looking for new things to do with your partner? Derbyshire has so much to offer for couples. Whether you already live in Derbyshire, just passing through or are a new visitor, you can enjoy the very best of Derbyshire. From food and outstanding views to romantic activities and historic buildings.

As a leading hotel based in Belper, we wanted to share some of our favourite places in Derbyshire to explore on your next date. Continue reading and make sure to add these must-visit destinations to your list!

1) Chatsworth House

This beautiful stately home is set among 737 hectares of stunning landscaped gardens and Derbyshire countryside. The Chatsworth House and Gardens is open to the public all year round. Explore the Painted Hall, State Rooms and artwork inside Chatsworth House before taking a romantic stroll through the gardens. Couples can enjoy estate tours, walks, workshops, theatre shows and seasonal activities. There are plenty of upcoming exciting events happening for the rest of this year including the Coronation Weekend, Chatsworth International Horse Trials, Garden and Plant Fair, Country Fair and more.

2) Denby Pottery Village

If you want to try something new, take a pottery class with your partner at Denby Pottery Village. Just a short 12 minute drive from us, you can experience the Denby Pottery Tour and Museum. Better yet, roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with the Pottery Throwing Experience. Perfect for couples as you are able to use two potter’s wheels at the same time. With the help of a Studio Potter, you will learn the techniques to create your own hand-thrown piece. Next, your piece will be fired and finished with a Denby glaze of your choice. Once ready, your piece can be collected or delivered to you! This is a fun activity for artistic couples (don’t worry if you’re not quite creative!). The best part is capturing it with your partner by having hand-thrown pottery to keep forever.

3) The Heights of Abraham

Take the scenic route and ride a cable car from Derwent Valley to the summit of Masson Hill. With breath-taking 360 degree views, the Heights of Abraham is the perfect way to take in the stunning scenery of the award-winning hilltop park and the surrounding Derbyshire Dales.

Apart from the cable car journey, there are many other things to do while you are there including a guided tour of the Masson or Rutland cavern, taking in more spectacular views from Tinker’s Shaft (the highest point of the estate), the Long View exhibition, audio tours, woodland trials, heritage walks and more. Feeling hungry? There is also a restaurant, a terrace café, a beer garden and plenty of romantic picnic spots to choose from.
