How To Prepare For Father’s Day 2023

How To Prepare For Father’s Day 2023

Have you remembered Father’s Day is happening this month? On the 18th June, dads, daddies, papas, fathers and father figures will be celebrated across the UK. Have you thought of what to get your dad? Have you made plans for Father’s Day with your siblings? If not, there’s no need to panic yet! This article is packed with great ideas to help you prepare and show how much you appreciate him. From gifts to grub, with these ideas in mind, your dad will be sure to have a Father’s Day he will never forget!

Give Them A Gift To Remember

Whether he’s a sports fan or the king of dad jokes, there’s nothing like a special gift to say thank you or even a funny gift to put a smile on his face. If he is football obsessed, why not surprise him with football match tickets? For tech lovers, he may need a set of wireless earphones or a new coffee machine (although you might have to show him how to use it!).

If you’re in doubt, every dad would appreciate a nice jumper, shirt or socks. That being said, it doesn’t have to be anything expensive, a simple or personalised Father’s Day card with a handwritten message inside is more than enough to brighten his day. If you happen to live abroad, make sure to post him a card. Even better, arrange a phone call or a video call to wish him a great day!

Plan A Staycation

To go an extra mile or if your dad is not into physical gifts, organise a family staycation for him instead! If you are looking to stay in Derbyshire, there are plenty of options to choose from including The Lion Hotel in Belper. While you stay with us, you can explore our nearby attractions to keep everyone, including your dad, entertained. Take a tour and see the brewing process at Thornbridge Brewery. While you’re there, make sure to stop by Chatsworth House. Closer to Belper, visit the car museum at the Great British Journey or hop on a tram at Crich Tramway Village. After a fun day of activities, head back to The Lion Hotel where your bed will be ready for you. Enjoy a nice family breakfast the following morning before checking out.

Father’s Day Feast

Let your dad hang up his cooking apron for the day and treat him to a Father’s Day Feast. If you plan on taking your dad out for a delicious meal, come along to our restaurant in The Lion Hotel for Father’s Day afternoon tea, lunch or dinner. After all, it means you don’t have to worry about cleaning up the dishes!

Our gastro menu is available every day from noon until 9pm. Dine inside our stylish restaurant or take advantage of the glorious weather and step out to our courtyard and garden for an alfresco dining experience. As Father’s Day falls on a Sunday, it’s the perfect reason to treat your dad to a Sunday roast dinner or our Father’s Day specials. Following your meal, have a look at our pudding menu and spoil your dad with his favourite dessert to celebrate the day. From cheesecakes to cheese boards, any dad with a sweet tooth wouldn’t be able to resist!

Raise A Glass To Your Dad

What British dad doesn’t love a tipple or two? Head down to The Lion Hotel pub for some post-dinner beverages. Spend the evening in our charming pub or enjoy the sunshine in our courtyard and beer garden. Whether your dad’s go-to drink is beer, ale, cider, gin & tonic or a glass of wine, our drinks menu has something for the whole family. Wrap up Father’s Day by taking in the lively atmosphere and raising a glass to your dad.
