The Lion Hotel is situated in the centre of Belper, a historic market town located in the Derwent Valley Mills Heritage Site, famous for its cotton mill history. We’re only a 2 minute walk away from Belper train station, a 35 minute drive from East Midlands airport and a 1 hour drive from Birmingham airport.
Along with easy access, we also have free onsite car parking for wedding guests. Our 18th century hotel is filled with traditional charm and character, surrounded by breathtaking scenery of the Peak District. Perfectly picturesque for beautiful wedding photos!
2) Our Beautiful Facilities
The Lion Hotel is a fully licensed wedding venue, equipped with a choice of two beautiful suites for the special occasion of marriage and civil partnerships.
Our main venue is The Arkwright Suite which is the biggest out of our two suites. This stunning suite is ideal for seating up to 70 guests for a civil wedding or partnership and up to 120 guests for an evening reception. If you’re looking for a smaller reception suite with a more intimate atmosphere, The Strutt Suite will be the perfect venue for you. This small yet stylish suite can seat up to 40 guests for a civil wedding or partnership, and up to 30 guests for the wedding breakfast.
Aside from our beautiful facilities, we have 2 wedding packages available to choose from, The Daytime Package and The Full Day Package. They both include a celebration drink on entry, sparkling wine to make a toast to the bride & groom, alongside a Lion Hotel exclusive 3-course wedding breakfast and much more. 3) Our Food & Drink Packages
We understand food and drink can make or break your big day. That’s why we offer a flexible range of menus to choose from. This includes a choice of 3 canapés, a 3-course seated wedding breakfast or tasty buffet options, a dedicated children’s menu for little guests and additional courses such as sorbets, cheese boards, or tea, coffee, and mints. We also have gluten free and vegetarian options available for any of your guests who have special dietary requirements.
In terms of drinks, we offer a choice of 3 drinks packages including a celebratory drink, house wine or wine from our wedding wine menu, and a glass of sparkling wine or champagne for tasting. All of our special drinks packages will have your guests in high spirits throughout the day. Our team of bartenders will keep them touched up with a drink in hand to toast the newlywed couple! 4) Our Accommodation
We offer onsite accommodation, meaning there’s no need for extra transportation after the evening reception as guests can dance the night away with a only short walk upstairs to their accommodation. Our 22 refurbished bedrooms are decorated in rustic style, surrounded by beautiful 18th century architecture along with all the facilities you would find in a modern hotel.
We have a range of other bedrooms to choose from including double rooms and family rooms, all of which include an en-suite bathroom, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, ironing board, wardrobe, fresh fluffy towels, complimentary toiletries, and more. We also have a honeymoon suite available. This room is larger in size with a four poster king size bed, fit for the happy newlywed couple!
