Let’s Talk Setting
Nestled in the sleepy town of Belper, here at The Lion, we accommodate everyone. Whether that’s your local farmer whos coming in for a drink, with lassie in tow. Perhaps it’s a couple looking for fine dining, and a romantic setting (perhaps with a ring?!), or even a family-friendly local where the children’s menu reflects how welcome children are to dine with us. And even up to corporate dinner meetings where Wi-fi is an all-important feature.
Our wonderful Derbyshire restaurant can’t offer you a pretentious meal where waiters are in tuxedos, nor can it offer you a greasy spoon fry up. What it can offer if everything in between. Mixed up with the best pizza around, a collection of fantastic and friendly waiting staff, and some fabulous mixologists to offer you the perfect cocktail for your visit.
Let’s Talk Menus
Now, the setting is one large hurdle that is now out of the way, the next is getting the right menus. We have always found that variety is key, without overwhelming our guests.
First up, we have our spectacular Gastro Menu. This menu offers a little of something, for, well, everyone! Included in this menu we have a wonderful selection of hearty meaty dishes, succulent vegetarian dishes, and of course, lighter dishes! Firm favourites from our regular guests include the Smoked Bouillabaisse featuring Smoked haddock, cod, king prawn and mussel stew, rouille, crusty bread, and the Middle Eastern Falafel served with flatbread, dukkah, hummus, cucumber and onion, tomato relish and cumin fries.
Aside from the main menu, we also have our famous stone-baked pizza menu. This menu offers a selection of classic pizzas, for those that prefer to have a bit of what they know. And for those up for trying something new, we also have a selection of pizzas developed by our very own chefs right here in The Lions kitchen! Make sure you give the Lions Pride pizza a try!
Of course, we also have a breakfast menu, a champagne breakfast menu and an Afternoon Tea menu if you are fancying something special a little earlier in the day!
