Getting Out And About In Belper

Getting Out And About In Belper

With restrictions easing, and the team here at The Lion Hotel looking forward to welcoming more and more hotel guests through our doors, have you planned what you can do while visiting Belper?

Outdoor Activities

We may be able to visit attractions indoors, but when we have been cooped up inside thanks to lockdowns and miserable weather for the best part of 2021, why wouldn’t you want to enjoy some of the great outdoor activities (weather permitting of course!).
Belper River Gardens
Showing all the beauty we have to offer here in Belper all together, and just a 10-minute walk from us at The Lion Hotel. The Belper River Gardens is a great place to spend the day with the entire family. From walks with views over the river Derwent to the children’s park, you will find something to entertain yourself, there’s even a tea room to stop off to a cup of tea in the beautiful greenery. Sadly, some attractions may still be limited, such as boat rides, due to ongoing precautions from the pandemic.
Tissington Trail
From walkers to cyclists alike, this trail has some great views on offer. The full trail spans 13 miles of Derbyshire countryside and passes by several stunning attractions along the way. And plenty of places to stop off for a refreshing beverage, or ice cream in the summer sun.

Indoor Activities

If you are looking to make the most of indoor activities now that restrictions are allowing them, why not consider one of these great places to visit here in the heart of Derbyshire:
Denby Pottery Villiage
Whether you want to turn your hand to throwing your own pots, or a spot of painting for the kids. Denby pottery village not only has a range of activities for you to get stuck into, but it also displays a vast array of pottery across its stores. Allowing you to take home some of the very best pottery that Derbyshire has to offer.
National Brewery Centre
Based just a short drive away in the centre of Burton-upon-Trent the National Brewery Centre is a great day out, not just for those who love a good beer, but for those who love to learn more! The centre includes a national heritage museum complete with steam engines and vintage vehicles and is even home to a couple of shire horses. There is also an escape room, to get you using your logic!

At The End Of The Day

When the day comes to a close, and you’ve enjoyed a day full of activities, what more can you ask for than to come back to the welcoming arms of The Lion Hotel and enjoy freshly prepared food, before popping upstairs for your stay in our luxury bedrooms. Check out our new menu, and our hotel bookings for more information.
