End Of The Summer Holidays

End Of The Summer Holidays

As we approach the end of August, we are also approaching the end of the kid’s summer holidays. Parents have exhausted all the summer activities. Ran out of games to play, activities to keep them occupied and even their energy. So what can you do in the last few days of the holiday?

Getting About In Nature

Our things to do page had a collection of great activities that are in the area local to The Lion Hotel in Belper. Some of which are great places to take the kids.
Conkers – This outdoor adventure centre has some great experiences for kids of all ages. From high treetop adventure courses to low ropes for the younger children. There’s an indoor section too, for if the weather takes a turn. Here you can find Billy Bonkers soft playhouse, a 4D cinema and an Enchanted Forest play area! Back outside you can follow the adventure train, get lost in the fairy labyrinth or even take a ride on the conker train! Where will their imagination take them?
Belper River Gardens – Belper River Gardens is a stunning park where you can take the kids for a stroll around the waters edge, a paddle in a boat, or a play in the park. Entrance to the park is free so you can enjoy the scenery without having to spend a penny. Great if you’re getting to the end of summer and need to tighten the purse strings a bit. You can even take your own picnic!

Interesting Indoors

If the weather doesn’t look too good, you might be looking for somewhere you can hang out inside. Here’s just a couple of places you can head, with special inclusions for the kids:
Denby Pottery Villiage – The Kids can get hands-on with the clay in one of the many experiences at Denby Pottery Villiage. Or you might just want to let them paint a pot! Whichever you fancy, they can certainly get creative, and maybe a little bit messy. You might even take a shine to some of the stunning pieces available in the factory shop.
Pickfords House – Pickford’s house is a lifestyle museum, featuring period room sets from the 18th to the 20th century, showing not only the kids but also you, how life was once upon a time. There is even a toy theatre collection for the kids to see toys of an age where batteries weren’t needed.

Visiting The Lion Hotel

Here at The Lion Hotel, we love when young guests come to visit us. They bring smiles and laughter and seeing them interacting with their family is a wonderful sight.
To help make them feel welcome in our restaurant we even have a children’s menu, featuring a collection of their favourites, combined with new dishes they might like to try!
Sausage, chips and beans are a firm favourite, while a vegan Thai curry might have them enjoying all new taste sensations!
If you decide to stay with us, an extra children’s bed can be added to any room for just a small fee. So why not have them enjoying a luxurious night away too?
