The Wake
A wake is a time to talk about the happy times, life achievements and fond memories of your loved one. A place where you can share tears, and smiles and laugh at some of the good times you had together. Somewhere to share old photographs, anecdotes and sayings. To hold onto those memories is priceless.
So let us offer you a comfortable environment where you can spend as long as you need with your family and friends submersed in those memories.
While the funeral is the time to say your final goodbyes, when you reach the wake, it can be turned into a celebration of the life they led and of the loved ones left behind.
Wakes held at The Lion Hotel will include the private hire of either the Arkwright suite or the Strutt suite depending on expected turnout.
The Comforts
Many people handle bereavement differently. This includes what they find comfort in at the wake. For many, this is a simple tea or coffee that they can sip whilst discuss fond memories. For others, they may have lost their appetite since the passing, and the wake is a time where they can finally relax and tuck into the buffet. And for others, a toast to the loved one is necessary, so our bar will be open throughout the wake for you to have a drink or two to your loved one.
