Belper Parks Local Nature Reserve
When you come to stay with us in the Lion’s Head, you have an award winning park on your doorstep. The Belper Parks Local Nature Reserve can be found less than a five minute drive away from our hotel in Derbyshire in the heart of Belper town centre. Whether you’re looking for a place to walk, exercise, take your dogs out or let your kids play, this nature reserve brings the countryside closer to you.
What To Do Whilst You’re There?
Belper Parks Local Nature Reserve boasts many different ways to keep yourself entertained. If you and your partner have come to escape the hustle and bustle of your day to day lives, you can take a stroll through the woodland and admire the views that surround you. Whilst you’re doing this, you can also look out for the poetry trail. Amongst the woodland, two poems have been written using stone carving and brass nails in the steps leading to the recreation ground. You may have already seen Beth’s Poetry Trail throughout Belper, of which these two belong. If you’re visiting us in the Summer, make sure to bring your camera too as the wildflower meadow comes to life.
If you’re staying in one of our Belper hotels with your family, make sure that you make the most of the play area and sports facilities there too. The Manor Recreation Ground can be accessed from the Parks Estate or through the parks. Here, children aged 12 years and under can take on the equipped play facilities. Football pitches are also available for hire should you be travelling with any friends or family too.
Is Food and Drink Available?
Whilst food isn’t available to buy on site, there are a number of picnic benches scattered throughout the Belper Parks Local Nature Reserve. Therefore, we would encourage our guests to pack a picnic and enjoy it amongst the stunning scenery of the nature reserve,
Once you’ve finished with your walk or other activities, you can rest and recharge with a meal from one of the best restaurants in Belper. Serving a wide variety of homemade cuisine including pizzas fresh out of our stonebaked pizza oven, a visit to the Lion’s restaurant is a must. Whether you’re planning a romantic meal for two, a family celebration or a catch up with friends, you’re sure to love our friendly atmosphere. You can book a table in our gastro restaurant online.
