Now that September is here, we know that summer is almost over, and the start of the autumnal weather is upon us, many people will be hesitant about a staycation. Here at The Lion Hotel, we believe this is the best time of year to make the most of what the UK has to offer, particularly Derbyshire!

As autumn arrives, the leaves start to fall. Not only does this leave us with a gentle crunch underfoot, but it also brings a stunning array of warming colours. This is why we recommend that you get out into nature, and take in all of the spectacular sights that our county has to offer.
Take a look around some of our local walks, head over to the Belper water gardens, or, take the short drive into the peak district. Just remember to bring your walking boots!

If you are staying with us throughout October, and you consider yourself a thrill seeker, we highly recommend visiting Alton Towers Spooktacular.
We are just a short drive away from the renowned theme park, who puts on the best Halloween event every year! With access to rides as normal, you can also head into the maze, or catch the spooktacular fireworks! Remember to book in advance as dates tend to sell out.

When it comes to dining out during autumn, you can never really plan your meal choices in advance. With warm sun one day, and pouring rain the next, you really will want to wait to make your choice.
This might also mean that you will get to try some of our more wintery dishes when our new menu arrives. We aren’t going to spoil the surprise just yet. But you can keep an eye out on our Facebook page for any announcements!
Of course, our dining area is the perfect place to relax after a busy day exploring the great outdoors. So why not book a table, and treat yourself to a drink from our vast selection, and a bite to eat? But make sure to save room for our selection of desserts, they are by far the best around!
